The modulus squared of this quantity represents a probability or probability density. for instance a number of seconds IE length of time, Wave mechanics is connected to quantity. It is called wave function and is denoted by φ. The probability that a particle will found at a given place in space at a given instant of time is categories by the Wave Function. This wave function can be real or complex, wave function collapse is said to occur when a wave function(Time up),  initially in a superposition of several eigenstates, appears to reduce to a single eigenstate by observation, In 1927, Werner Heisenberg used the idea of wave function reduction to explain quantum measurement  the expectation value is the probabilistic expected value of the result (measurement) of an experiment, or a single outcome,  variable quantity that mathematically describes the wave characteristics of a particle.
